The Cutting Edge of Global Practice

Work hand-in-hand with global practitioners who are at the cutting-edge of genocide prevention, while taking courses on genocide, crimes against humanity, mass violence, and human rights advocacy with world-renowned scholars.

Relationships and Opportunities

The Genocide Prevention Program is part of the Center for Peacemaking Practice, at the Carter School. The CPP is a dynamic center, with lots of exciting programs, projects, and initiatives. Our students benefit from our close working relationships with other programs at the CPP, including The John Mitchell, Jr., Program for History, Justice, and Race and The Better Evidence Project.

We the work closely with the United Nations Office on Genocide Prevention and the Responsibility to Protect, allowing graduate students to collaborate with some of the world’s leading practitioners.

Our partnerships with the Auschwitz Institute for the Prevention of Genocide and Mass Atrocities, Peace Direct, the Alliance for Peacebuilding, the Global Action Against Mass Atrocity Crimes Platform for Prevention, and the Community of Sant’egidio provide our graduate students with access to cutting edge networks of global practitioners who are working to build architectures for prevention, peace, and reconciliation. These partnerships provide graduate students with unparalleled research and practice opportunities.

Genocide Prevention Program graduate students have a standing invitation to attend the Atrocity Prevention Study Group at the Stimson Center, which meets monthly to convene policy makers from across the US government, representatives from NGOs working on issues related to Atrocity Prevention, global practitioners, and scholars who are conducting cutting-edge research.
